Subject : GIMP Tutorial: Transform Face into Galaxy Silhouette
I was curious about what and how to make the final result, and I thought it would be fun, so I followed this YouTube course.
It seems to be a work of applying a background image by drawing out the outline or silhouette of a person's face using an open source tool called GIMP.
First, download a portrait photo and a background photo you need from the Google site.
In Gimp, I draw a background photo as a background image, and I work on a layer with a portrait photo on the top.
Select the person layer and add an Alpha Channel.
To create the shape of the face, draw the outline of the face using the Paths Tool.
Then, press the Enter key to close the link.
If the background is bright compared to the face in the picture, it seems that it can be separated well later.
Menu-Click Invert in Select and press Del on the keyboard to delete anything other than the selection.
As a method for separating the face shape, the dark area and the bright area are separated.
To create this
1. Click the Colors-Levels menu to make the dark areas darker and the bright areas brighter to clearly separate the contrast. Until you are satisfied...
2. Click the Colors-Saturation menu to change it to black and white.
3. Click the Colors-Threshold menu to make the black areas darker and the bright areas brighter so that you can distinguish them by color.
In the case of a photo with good resolution, it seems that it can be distinguished in detail by adjusting the threshold even for every hair.
4.Select by color tool: select regions with similar colors
Select the white highlights you want to remove, then press the delete key on your keyboard to delete the highlights.
The background screen is displayed in the deleted bright area.
5.Select by color tool: select regions with similar colors
Select the black dark area.
6. Disable the view icon of the person layer.
6.1 Add Alpha Channel to the background screen.
7. Select select-invert and press the del key on the keyboard to delete the area other than the selected person.
8. Add a layer.
9. Gradient the background area from white to black by selecting the Gradient Tool.
10. Move the layer to the bottom.
